Northern Lights

Whew Its Done! This is my latest quilt top, finally ready to be quilted. I purchased the jelly rolls from my friend Jen when she was closing her shop and moving with her family to Alberta. With no particular project in mind they sat in my stash until I came across this pattern on a quilt store run with my mom. The project was one that occupied more of my time than expected. However, I am pleased with the results. This won't be the first one I put on my new quilting machine as I think it will need careful consideration.
This little quilt was a gift for a friend who worked with us as our summer student for 5 years. I waited until the baby arrived and put it together in a weekend so that the colors would suit the new arrival. Rag quilts are easily designed and fun to make and this one was no exception. Enjoy Brooklyn and Stacey.

A little about me...

I have been an avid quilter since 1999 however, I completed my first quilt in 1984 as a baby gift for my best friends first born. My family have been quilters for 3 generations. Both my grandmothers where very accomplished quilters, with my Grandma Parrott having created lovingly many beautiful masterpieces for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. We came to anticipate this expression of love at every milestone in our lives.

I grew up sewing as my mother made many of my clothes and formal dresses teaching me along the way. Now, many years later we share the love of quilting and the a joy of spending time together.

Joining the local quilting guild was one of the most fullfilling expereinces for me. Not only have I learned an art form from many gifted ladies, but we have developed some wonderful friendships.

My greatest success are my daughters, Whitney and Jessica. They have grown into lovely young women of whom I am very proud. Recently, I celebrated a milestone anniversary with my husband and love of 25 years, Vaughn. The other love of my life is my pomeranian Tika who spends many an evening curled up under my sewing table on a quilt made specially for her.

As my blog grows I hope to share with you some of my creations and be enriched by a circle of wonderful people known as quilters.
